with the lip-sync you need to make the individual mouth shapes for each prominent word. Your characters mouth only goes up and down, mouth shapes are incredibly versatile being stretched sideways, maybe the jaw is a bit askew. You don't need to create a shape for each letter but video yourself and see what your mouth does for each word and how long you hold a shape.
