I would suggest concentrating on the animation rather than color, detail, backgrounds, and such. That is stuff you do after this competition.

The idea is very charming and the art style is doubly so! It's hard for me to criticize the mouth movements because they are so stylized, but I feel like having the entire face emote more with the mouth would make the expressions more believable instead of feeling like the mouth is floating on the face and doing its own thing.
