it was great until the end where the background just appears out of nowhere. I feel if it transitioned a bit better it wouldn't have been as jarring of an edit.

Very nice. I like the animation and concept. Your dancing character blends a lot into the background. Try amping up the rim light on him to help separate him from the dark back.
