Max Experiment

This is my first time animating anything on Maya, at all, and I have to say that I found it to be really fun. It has a lot of flaws but I'm happy with this first experiment. But I still have to practice a lot with the jaw and lips animation.

The mouth is waaaayyyy over animated. You don't need to try to get the mouth shape for every letter. More think about the general beats and phrasing and just make sure you include the open vowels and closed consonants.

Torso is very floaty and seems to just be rocking back and forth.

When you do your lipsync, try to avoid pronouncing every single syllable otherwise your mouth looks way to stuttery. See where you can combine mouth shapes to help the flow of delivery

Lipsynch needs a lot of work on the jaw. If it helps, try thinking of the character as a sock puppet. If you were trying to make a puppet say the line, would you move its mouth like that?

Here is some very helpful feedback for you. The mouth is too busy and I believe you can see that too when you play your animation. I had exactly the same problem myself in my animations. That is because when you are animating your character and you speak the voiceover yourself to see what your mouth moves like you always do it in slow speed. Try record yourself with a camera in normal speaking speed and in slow speed. You will see the difference yourself. I hope that works! Good luck ;)

The movements of the character suit the dialogue well. Some movement with the right arm would help a little with conveying some of the inflections of the audio track. The lip syncs jaw movement is good. Some more emphasis on the lips would help sell the hard "b's" and "w's". Overall, nice job. Keep up the good work.
